Design Engineering Placement

A position has become available for an engineering placement student at Caterpillar (NI) Limited, located in Larne within the Electric Power Division (EPD). The group is responsible for Electric Power Product Design and the placement is available in the Mechanical Design function. Design placements offer placement students real life product design experience in a customer focused environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Detail design of EPD product components and systems – includes 2D and 3D modelling.
  • Technical Calculations.
  • Component/ sub-systems supplier review.
  • Liaison with shop floor personnel on the assembly/ manufacture of product.
  • Complete and apply basic training on engineering standards.
  • Completion of any other assigned tasks in a timely manner to support EPD.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Who are we looking for?

As the type of roles within our business are becoming more diverse, we are looking for people who are open minded, excellent problem solvers and who have an ability to learn quickly. Applicants should be working towards relevant Engineering degree be on track to achieve at minimum of a 2:2.

We hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK placement students to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement.
