Electronics and Software Engineering Placement Student

We have opportunities to join this amazing business within the Smart Supply Chain and Automation team. Whilst working within the department you will provide Electronics and Software engineering design, support within the UK Automation Team and work alongside our Automation Engineer and Global Project Teams.

You will also support the identification and implementation of a series of different automation projects that will enable ASM to move towards Smart Factory solutions in line with Industry 4.0 methodologies.

This is a role for someone who likes to be ‘hands on’. You will learn the skills of working in an engineering environment and communicating within the team and with other departments. Come and be a part of something amazing!

About you

We are looking for an Electronics and Software placement student to add to our exciting team. We are happy to train and develop you to be the best (and you will have a great team to support you!). In return you will bring the following skills and experience to us:

  • Studying for a degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electronics/Mechatronics/Robotics/Computer Science/Software Engineering with some experience in simple circuit design and knowledge of embedded microcontroller boards or development platforms such as Mbed, Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc
  • Must have a sense of intellectual curiosity and willingness to investigate and promote new technologies
  • Hardware design and development in microcontrollers, creating UI or control systems using higher-level languages (C#/Java) as well as writing C/C++ for embedded applications
  • Confidence in the use of hand tools and manual assembly to create POC (Proof of Concepts) and prototype models
