Summer Internship

We are currently recruiting for an eight – twelve week banking internship programme which could then lead to a long-term career with the bank.

These roles will be based at offices / branches throughout the UK.

Handelsbanken has a refreshingly different approach to banking – it is a local relationship bank, built on sustainable values. We aim to really get to know our customers and provide them with great service, to ensure they're satisfied. We have strong values and culture based on trust and a belief that everyone has a natural desire to do a good job.

A summer internship is a superb opportunity for candidates to learn more and be part of this unique approach.

The internship gives people who have plenty of initiative an excellent opportunity to learn about Handelsbanken and how we work. We have various positions available across the UK. Most of these positions will be within a branch providing customer and branch support, however, there may be positions available within our London, Manchester and Birmingham head office departments such as HR, accounts or other support functions. All of these roles have the potential to lead to long-term careers within the bank.

A limited number of longer term placements may also be available.

As an intern at Handelsbanken, you will see for yourself what separates Handelsbanken from ‘high street banks’ and how we achieve our high levels of customer satisfaction through our aim of delivering world-class service. You will participate in team meetings and be involved in local day to day running of the branch.

You will gain the opportunity to see for yourself how a successful branch team works together to make a real difference to our customers.

The programme will provide practical experience within the following competencies:

  • Customer satisfaction
  • Team working
  • Communication
  • Financial analysis
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Commercial awareness
  • Time management
  • Innovation and creativity

Handelsbanken are deeply committed to embedding good equality and diversity practice into all of our activities so that we are an inclusive, welcoming and inspiring place to work, regardless of age, disability, pregnancy and/or parental status, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender reassignment or sexual orientation. All appointments are made solely on merit.
