Power Trading Intern

Our Power Trading department is responsible for optimizing group assets, hedging and taking speculative risk on the power market. The desk trades both short and long-term power for the UK and Continental markets, managing cross-border interconnector capacities as well as intraday and day-ahead optimization activities for the EDF Group in the wholesale electricity market.

What are my responsibilities?

You will gain exposure to the day to day activities of our power desk by providing support to the traders as needed, predominantly by maintaining and developing models and tools.

Your main tasks may include:

  • Tool and model building
  • Model maintenance
  • Validation and back testing of models
  • Collecting data which are relevant to the European electricity markets
  • Power trading analysis.

You will liaise with various teams within front office and support traders on a day to day basis

What do I need to qualify for this internship?

You will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Maths, Engineering, Economics and Physics.

You will have experience in a general-purpose programming language, ideally python. You will be proficient in VBA and Matlab.
You will also be expected to have some knowledge of the global energy markets.
