Software Engineer - Development Placement

In our team we have a wide range of backgrounds, from degree apprentices who we’re taking on the journey, to STEM grads - and of course CS grads. We encourage people to get involved in all aspects of the business. We regularly host learning lunch sessions to listen to new ideas and present new tech, both related to work and un-related. All ideas are good ideas and there are regular forums to put forward and discuss ideas for the product and about the way we work.
The development team is divided into small, interdisciplinary teams
We have around 20 people in the core development team out of roughly 100 people and we have big goals. There are many interesting challenges ahead as we strive to keep our lead at the front of the market. As an engineer at Lighthouse you will be able to work across the entire stack and have access to work directly with anybody in the company. This enables strong knowledge share so you’ll learn about how the product is used day to day and the impact it has on businesses.
At Lighthouse you’ll be able to work on modern technologies and influence future technology selection
We have big goals to transform the architecture of the product over the coming years.
You’ll get to work with technologies like
- .NET Core to write our application code
- React to build our beautiful front end
- Backbone to model our front end
- Typescript – our front-end language of choice
- SignalR for real time communication with external measuring equipment
- Entity Framework for building the interface to our data
- SQL Server
Plus you’ll be working as part of a SCRUM team so will be involved in daily stand-ups and the planning, reviews and retrospectives we do each Sprint.
