Software Engineer - Projects Placement

In case you do not know, MES is software at the heart of Industry 4.0 and the Smart Manufacturing movement. Putting technology on the shopfloor of the world’s most forward thinking industries, OUR MES (and JOB) is to connect real time data feeds from IoT and automation to the enterprise, ensuring that decisions on the shopfloor are on time and informed.

What will you be doing?

Working on real client projects. There are many large-scale projects being worked on at any one time across a variety of different manufacturing industries. As an engineer at Lighthouse, you will work across many disciplines, writing reliable maintainable code to tailor product for customer needs and deliver outstanding solutions. You will have access to work directly with anyone in the business, enabling strong knowledge share so you will know about how the product is used day to day.

You will travel the world. As part of the project team, you will get the chance to travel all over the world, visiting our customers to understand their requirements and see first-hand how the software is going to be used. This level of access gives you a unique insight into how the product needs to be shaped going forward, as well as providing the detailed understanding enabling you to extend the product for the customer’s needs.

You will get to work with a variety of technologies. As part of the project team, you will be building extensions to the product that tailor the application for a projects specific requirements. You will be doing development in C#, SQL and JSON to achieve this.

Additionally, much of the power in our solutions comes in the ability to connect with external systems. The variety in these systems is vast meaning you could be writing an interface in C# one day or building a web service the next. Engineers are listened to throughout every stage of the product and directly influence and contribute to the technical choices made for the project

Working across the ENTIRE STACK, As an engineer at Lighthouse you will have access to work directly with everybody in the company. This enables strong knowledge share so you’ll learn about how the product is used day to day and the impact it has on businesses.

You will be able to work on modern technologies and influence future technology selection; we have big goals to transform the architecture of the product over the coming years. You’ll get to work with technologies like

  • .NET Core to write our application code
  • React to build our beautiful front end
  • Backbone to model our front end
  • Typescript – our front-end language of choice
  • SignalR for real time communication with external measuring equipment
  • Entity Framework for building the interface to our data
  • SQL Server

Plus you’ll be working as part of a SCRUM team so will be involved in daily stand-ups and the planning, reviews and retrospectives we do each Sprint.
