Summer Vacation Scheme

In 2020 we'll be running one two-week Summer Vacation Scheme for penultimate year students. If your application for a place is successful, you'll benefit from an unparalleled introduction to the world of commercial law, undertaking classroom based learning alongside work experience in a practice area.

Responsibilities

You'll develop your legal and business skills, gaining insight into our high profile deals and enhancing your commercial awareness. Whilst in a practice area, you can expect to be exposed to the types of tasks our trainees would work on, such as: drafting and proofing documents, conducting due diligence on a client's acquisition target, preparing documents for a court hearing, researching titles and leases on a real estate portfolio or creating a data room ahead of a major transaction.

Throughout, you'll have the support of the Graduate Recruitment Team, a supervising lawyer and a trainee 'buddy' who you can turn to any stage.

Most importantly, you could be taking your first step towards commencing a Training Contract with us.

Experience and skills

You do not need to have prior legal experience or a Law degree to apply to us. As the Summer Vacation Scheme may lead to a Training Contract, we will expect you to be a problem-solver with strong communication skills and commercial acumen. The competencies that we look for in our Summer Vacation interns include:

  • Business awareness
  • Leading and managing
  • Problem solving with commercial insight
  • Relationship building and networking
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to identify legal vs business issues

You will be in your penultimate year of study. If you are a Law student then you should be able to start a Training Contract in 2022, and if you are a non-law student then you should be able to start in 2023. The details for the Training Contract are:

  • Job Title: Trainee Solicitor
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Location: 10 Upper Bank Street, London
  • Salary: £48,000 (first year), £54,000 (second year)

Application process

Applications open on 1st August 2019 and close at midnight on 12th December 2019. We do not recruit on a rolling basis and we do not review applications until after the deadline has passed.

Shortly after submitting your application, you will receive an email from us asking you to complete an online Watson Glaser critical reasoning assessment. This takes approximately 30 minutes and should be completed within 5 days of receiving our email with instructions.

The assessment days for our Summer Vacation Scheme will take place in London from the week commencing 20th January 2020.
