Project Co-ordinator Placement (Mechanical Engineer)

The Innovation Technology Group is focussed on developing and delivering commercial manufacturing solutions for new-to-world or new-to-group technologies and products. At any point, there will be 10+ major projects live within the department. The current programme of projects covers innovations across the potentially reduced risk spectrum, including vapour devices and tobacco heating products (THP). Recent successful deployments include the launch of Glo in Japan, a THP that offers consumers a choice over conventional smoking.

As well as many opportunities to develop engineering skills in a professional environment, the multi-faceted nature of the Organisation will offer the student opportunities to hone many other professional skills that will be useful throughout their career.

The student will have the opportunity to take part in many of the group’s live projects and will take part in all aspects of a project’s lifecycle from Ideation to Delivery. The student will be required to visit suppliers in Europe and may be required to visit factories around the world, including travel within the UK.

Successful applicants will gain a variety of skills/experiences including working in an industrial setting, report writing and presentation skills. Cross functional/department working and participation in other research activities will be encouraged, where appropriate. The undergraduate placement scheme enables students to develop their transferable skills in addition to gaining practical and technical experience in a scientific discipline. Training and development will be provided throughout the placement.
