Business Resilience Placement

Are you looking for a placement/year in industry to complement your studies?

Experian is seeking a Placement Student to join our Global Business Continuity Office (GBCO) with our Business Resilience Team (who cover the UK, Europe, The Middle East, Africa AND Asia-Pacific).

This is a great opportunity to gain industry experience working in the Business Continuity team of a FTSE 100 Company. You’ll join a busy department, where fresh ideas and innovation are not only highly regarded but a necessity, as well as gain valuable insight into mitigating risk, exposure, crisis, threats and how Resilience programmes are implemented in a working organisation.

You’ll have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of “resilience” as a business function across the business and gain exposure to an increasingly important and instrumental area for large complex businesses. There is a strong opportunity to develop your understanding on a practical level of how a Resilience programme is designed and delivered within a financial service organisation.

Your role

Supporting a Regional Manager, you will be supporting the delivery & reporting of the programme for the EMEA region. You will work closely with all members of the Business Resilience team (including those based in other global regions), the wider Experian teams and departments and you must be able to take your own initiative to offer and deliver solutions whilst working within a team environment.

There are important tasks around Crisis Management, Business Continuity and IT disaster recovery testing, audit, plan documentation updates that are a key feature of programme maintenance. Your role will include:

  • Supporting the Regional Resilience Manager to design and deliver their regional plans
  • Maintaining essential documentation, including crisis management plans, including audit action plans, as well as regular document reviews and refresh where appropriate
  • As a member of the Business Continuity team, supporting management in maintaining a dynamic view of policy compliance
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships (internal and external to the Business Resilience team)
  • Assisting in the development of Work Area Recovery Solutions and testing activities
  • Inputting into Management Information reporting
  • Support the delivery of Resilience forums and training activities

What we are looking for

  • Currently studying towards a university degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Management, with an expected 2.1 grade average
  • Flexible approach to work, with a willingness and ability to work and travel away from home site location
  • Proactive & self-motivated with a logical, thorough & analytical approach
  • Keen desire for innovation, influencing & problem solving with an open mind and a “solutions based” approach.
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written
