Finance Industrial Placement

• 52 week contract (typically June 2019 – June 2020)

About the Placement

• 12 month placement position
• Based in Shoreditch, London
• Reports to Finance Manager – Global Accounting and Reporting Team
• This placement is for second-year undergraduates only

Job Purpose

• Active role within the Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Planning & Reporting area of the Global Finance team
• You will work as an active member of the Global Accounting and Reporting

Main Responsibilities

• Assist with Financial Audit Preparation (External Auditors) - Journal Entries Selection
  • Compiling Invoices and their backups
  • Balance Confirmation with McDonald’s Markets
• Assist with the 2019 P&L and Trial Balance Review & 2020 Planning Process - Monthly Cost analysis by Reporting Lines and Cost Centres/ Department as well as Entity Level
  • Projections Analysis
• Assisting in Month End Activities
• Assisting with tracking invoices and chasing suppliers for invoices
  • Effectively communicating over email and telephone to resolve any issues with contacts.
  • Being vigilant when approving invoices and processing their payment
• General and Admin Accounting + Reporting - Ensure correct coding
  • Building & Maintaining Reports
  • Monthly, Quarterly, Other Ad hoc Reporting
  • Maintaining and communicating live Cost Centre Structure & Hierarchy list and working closely with the US Team Members to ensure Oracle Database is aligned
  • Use of AS400 Software on a daily basis
  • Bank Matching for Incoming payments
  • Maintaining and reconciling Balance sheet accounts
  • Ensuring invoices are coded to the correct cost centre and account.
  • Issuing purchase orders for IT spend
  • Reviewing and Submitting payroll deductions for the subsidised gym memberships programmes
  • Assisting in the Employee T&E process and T&E Audit
  • New joiner accounting processes and setup
• Assisting the Tax Accounting Team with Various Queries and Tasks - Support with VAT returns
  • Support with Tax Compliance (Tax returns, Annual Accounts)
• Various Project works based on the Business needs

Knowledge and Experience

• Adaptable with a positive, can do attitude and organised
• Good level of analytical & numerical skills
• Good understanding of Accounting principles and double entries
• A strong level of IT proficiency (Microsoft Packages) – especially Excel including formulae
