Finance & Accounting Placement

We currently have an exciting opportunity within the FDS UK Finance Team for an individual who is currently seeking an internship in accounting/finance. This position is based from our head office in Aldershot, Hampshire.

FDS is a new company formed from a merger between HPE and CSC which is focused on providing IT Services to customers across the UK and Ireland. With a turnover of £60m a year you will assist in accounting for Third Party Spend of approximately £15m a year across a number of vendors and processes as well as internal cost allocations. You will report directly to the Finance Manager but receive day-to-day task responsibility and mentoring from the Senior Finance Analysts.

Role Details:

  • 12-13 month internship beginning in June 2019
  • Full time hours

Opportunity to:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in managing the month end close, including preparing and posting journals into SAP
  • Providing detailed billing backup for customer accounts
  • Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and reviews
  • Performing analysis on the overall integrity of the P&L for areas of responsibility
  • Accruals and prepayment management
  • Liaising with Procurement and Business Managers to ensure timely recognition of costs
  • Invoice integrity checks
  • Assist with internal and external audits and analysis
  • Management of the FDS Finance Inbox and associated adhoc tasks
  • Provide Business Partner support to Managers, acting as a trusted finance expert
  • Monthly finance reviews
  • Miscellaneous projects as allocated by the Finance Manager/Senior Analysts
  • Ensure we operate with a high level of financial integrity
  • Operate within the Corporate Standards of Business Conduct, abiding by Health & Safety Rules, relevant Accounting Standards and all other appropriate Governance structures

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Currently studying Accounting or Finance with minimum achievement of a 2:1 during second year
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Strong MS Excel skills. An understanding of macros would be ideal, the ability to write VBA/advanced Macros would be a bonus
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both financial and non-financial management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current full driving license

This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently studying Accounting or Finance to take part in an internship within a busy and vibrant finance department.

The successful candidate would be expected to reside locally.
