Manufacturing Systems Placement

We appreciate that you will not come into the role a seasoned professional; so we will provide all the training that you need to become a competent & integral part of the team. If you’re expecting a placement of filing, faxing and fetching coffee, then you’re in for a shock! We will make it our mission to make sure your 13-month placement is as enjoyable as possible and educational.

We are now approaching our 4th intake of placement students, with our 2019 intake set to be our biggest yet. We will be recruiting 18 placement students, across several key departments, such as: Automation Engineering, Intellectual Property, Software Engineering, Test Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Media, Tooling Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Furthermore, we are proud to say that we have two new placements for 2019 in Business Analytics and a Manufacturing Systems due to the success of our current placements.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • To learn how to migrate Material Master data and associated Bill of Material data from the Product Lifecyle Management Application (Teamcentre) to the ERP system (SAP).
  • To assist with enrichment work to setup and manage that Material Master data in SAP, in conjunction with the business.
  • Work with the appropriate business areas, both within the Weymouth facility and other ASM facilities (EG Munich and Singapore), to ensure data integrity and accuracy of the Material Master attributes in accordance with the recognised business processes.
  • To assist with the mapping of business processes and data requirements to develop business improvement initiatives.
  • To help implement System and/or Process change with other business areas within SCM.
  • To assist with Test and implement new functionality within existing Systems.

Your profile:

  • You will be a Business Information Systems Student with a particular interest in an integrated global Business Systems strategy within a Manufacturing environment.
  • You will have a sense of intellectual curiosity and a willing to learn.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of topics such as Kanban, MRP/MPS, Supply Chain Management, Product Configurators, Inventory management and ERP systems.
  • You will be PC literate and have a good working knowledge the Microsoft Office suite of applications, Outlook or other email systems and ideally Flowcharting software.
  • Is self-driven, actively looks for ways to contribute.
