Intellectual Property Placement

We appreciate that you will not come into the role a seasoned professional; so we will provide all the training that you need to become a competent & integral part of the team. If you’re expecting a placement of filing, faxing and fetching coffee, then you’re in for a shock! We will make it our mission to make sure your 13-month placement is as enjoyable as possible and educational.

We are now approaching our 4th intake of placement students, with our 2019 intake set to be our biggest yet. We will be recruiting 18 placement students, across several key departments, such as: Automation Engineering, Intellectual Property, Software Engineering, Test Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Media, Tooling Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Furthermore, we are proud to say that we have two new placements for 2019 in Business Analytics and a Manufacturing Systems due to the success of our current placements.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Complete prior art and freedom to operate searches for new Inventions.
  • Liaise with Internal teams to co-ordinate preparation, review and execution of Non-Disclosure and Confidentiality Agreements
  • Record ideas originating from employees irrespective of perceived patentability and present for consideration by management.
  • Produce documentation including creating, revising and editing letters, emails, reports; and handle routine correspondence.
  • Monitor and record deadlines and work with rest of team to ensure they are met.
  • Monitor and record Intellectual Property Expenditure.
  • Maintain filing and database systems including physical filing, network drives and online docketing system.

Your profile:

  • You will have a high-level vocational qualification in a business or law; coupled with a strong interest in Engineering. Alternatively, you will be studying towards your degree in one of these subject matters.
  • You will have a sense of intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn.
  • Will be self-driven, actively looks for ways to contribute.
  • You will be highly proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
  • Have some basic practical knowledge of patents and experience in patent searching.
  • Some knowledge of basic Engineering principles and ASM product range.
