Science and Engineering Industrial Placement

Build the foundations for an incredible career with our Science and Engineering Industrial Placement. We offer a diverse range of placements offering opportunities working on fascinating projects from radiological protection to maintaining the computer systems that run our nuclear power stations, designing electrical systems to improving safety or operations.

You’ll benefit from on the job training, coached by industry experts, under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues, supported by your mentor and the teams you work within.

A number of our Industrial Placements come with opportunities for further technical training as required.

Your placement will be based at one of our Nuclear Power Stations or one of our offices across the UK.

Your time with us will be professionally rewarding and, because you’re making a real contribution to our business, you’ll be paid a salary of £16,500 for the year, with a generous holiday allowance, plus product and service discounts.

Requirements

You'll be studying for an engineering or science degree relevant to your chosen industrial placement. You’ll be on track to achieve, or will have already achieved, a 2:1 undergraduate degree, or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in Science, Engineering, Maths, IT or related degree.

Successful candidates will demonstrate good communication and people skills and have a willingness to learn. You will have the ability to interact within a team environment, display professionalism within a work setting and have a desire to develop your skills and abilities. Of key importance is a willingness to use your initiative and business instincts to get involved in a variety of tasks and provide support to the teams you work within.

Our Recruitment Process

To apply for an Industrial Placement start by registering and completing our online application. If your meet our minimum requirements we’ll ask you to complete an online situational strengths test, followed by an online numerical reasoning test. If you’re successful following the online stages you’ll have the chance to tell us more about yourself during a short telephone interview.

You’ll then be invited to a face to face interview, where you can demonstrate your capability and technical knowledge, as well as learning more about life at EDF Energy, our culture and our people. If everything goes well through these stages we’ll make you an offer as soon as possible. If you accept, you can look forward to the start of a very exciting and rewarding career with EDF Energy.
