Research and Development Industrial Placement

We have several industrial placement opportunities with our EDF Energy Research and Development (R&D) UK Centre.  Our R&D UK Centre is at the forefront of the investigation and deployment of brand new technologies.  Supporting everything from Nuclear, Energy Efficiency and Smart Meters, to Energy Management, Electric Vehicles and Digital Futures, it’s a real centre of excellence and innovation.

With opportunities in Digital Design, Modelling & Simulation, Environment & Natural Hazards you'll have the chance to learn through on the job training under the guidance of your highly skilled and experienced colleagues, with support from your mentor and the teams you’re working within.

Your time with us will be professionally rewarding, and because you’re making a real contribution to our business, you’ll be paid a salary of £16,500 for the year, with a generous holiday allowance, plus product and service discounts.

Requirements

You'll be studying for a degree relevant to your chosen industrial placement. You’ll also be on track to achieve, or will have already achieved, a 2:1 undergraduate degree, or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in Science, Engineering, IT, Digital Design or a related degree.

You’ll be motivated with well-developed people skills. You’ll have experience interacting within a team environment, approaching work, and people, with professionalism. You’ll have a real desire to learn and develop new skills and the ability to relocate to fulfil your placement.

Our Recruitment Process

To apply for an Industrial Placement start by registering and completing our online application. If your meet our minimum requirements we’ll ask you to complete an online situational strengths test, followed by an online numerical reasoning test.  If you’re successful following the online stages you’ll have the chance to tell us more about yourself during a short telephone interview.

You’ll then be invited to a face to face interview, where you can demonstrate your capability and technical knowledge, as well as learning more about life at EDF Energy, our culture and our people.  If everything goes well through these stages, we’ll make you an offer as soon as possible.
