Commercial Industrial Placement

Get your career off to an electric start by applying for our diverse Commercial Placement Scheme. You will work on projects addressing immediate business needs while developing new skills helping to drive business results and future strategy. The Customers business has opportunities working with the teams developing our digital channels, a principal customer contact route. Our aim is to place digital and data at the centre of our customer activity.

You’ll be part of the team developing innovative solutions to improve our customer contact online, grow mobile engagement and create new propositions and services in Smart and Connected Homes. To thrive you’ll already have a good understanding of digital technologies and data analytical skills.

There are exciting opportunities within our Brighton based Blue Lab. Blue Lab is our innovation accelerator centre working to make ideas and innovations come to life, and to be ‘Simply Better’ at solving our customers’ energy needs. Projects could involve big data analytics, machine learning, automation and Al development. The ability to analyse and act on data is critical in today’s highly competitive energy market. You’ll get the chance to work on relevant and immediate business questions with exposure to the full project lifecycle from the identification of a business need through to delivery of a business outcome.

The Generation business has an opportunity in the Design Authority Human Factors team. The team provide technical advice to the Company’s power stations and corporate functions, on key safety and commercial issues, to ensure human factor elements are assessed and adequately addressed in plant operations, safety cases and design projects. The team provide advice to achieve improved human performance during a variety of operational stages. You’ll have the opportunity to work on various projects, gaining an insight into the nuclear industry and the chance to apply your knowledge of psychology to real life situations.

Requirements

You'll be studying for a degree relevant to your chosen industrial placement. You’ll be on track to achieve, or will have already achieved, a 2:1 undergraduate degree, or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in Science, Engineering, Maths, IT, Digital Design, Psychology or a related degree.

Successful candidates will demonstrate well developed communication skills and a willingness to learn. You will have the ability, and experience of, interacting within a team environment and displaying professionalism within a work setting. You will have the ability to demonstrate technical and analytical skills. Of key importance is a willingness to get involved with a variety of tasks to provide support as required and a desire to develop new skills.

Our Recruitment Process
