Business Management & Product Marketing Assistant Placement

Panasonic is giving you the opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation within consumer electricals. Panasonic has grown to become one of the largest electronics companies in the world, producing market leading products in home appliances, cameras, TV, surveillance and many more.

You will be joining in a year in which the management & marketing teams will be integral. Panasonic is an official sponsor of both ‘Team GB’ and the ‘Olympic Games’ which will be held in the company’s home country of Japan, and therefore much of the work will be building up to and culminating in Tokyo 2020.

Panasonic needs your help with the management and marketing processes within the following departments (Audio/TV, Beauty and Imaging):

  • Audio team works with: Speakers, Headphones, Technics and Home Entertainment Systems (linked with TV)
  • Beauty team works with: Hair Care, Prestige Skincare, Male Grooming (linked with Home Appliances)
  • Imaging team works with: Lumix brand, Interchangeable lens cameras, Compact system cameras, Camcorders, Camera accessories, Lenses etc.

*Please note: Candidates will be considered for all 3 roles

Audio/TV Product Management role involves:

  1. Help on all aspects of product marketing from store layouts & promotional plans to sales forecasting & organising day to day operations.
  2. Managing Product Sample Stock - arranging deliveries & collection of stock between other EU countries and UK in order to maintain operating levels.
  3. Taking part in creating & monitoring new promotional strategies for a variety of products to help boost sales.
  4. Regular communication with different internal departments including Sales, Brand Communications, PR, Finance and Planning to share information on marketing activities.
  5. Bringing potential new ideas and insight into the team on both the market and product.
  6. Managing the recruitment process for new placement students for 2020 - 2021
  7. Help with monthly and yearly forecasting for product sales.
  8. Conducting range review presentation to retailers as new products are released.
  9. General management & marketing administration.
    • Reporting (using Excel, BEX Analyser, SAP and PSI software to track sales, order stock, monitor national accounts.)
    • Market analysis of competitors on online platforms

Beauty Product Management role involves:

  1. Keeping track of sales and forecasts, updating weekly reports for companies such as Boots, Harrods and Amazon and gain an understanding of forecasts and market data.
  2. Updating web content for online retailers, having a creative influence on the way our products are marketed online.
  3. Support new product development and marketing campaigns
  4. Assist in promotional activities and events.
  5. Creating and designing instore product launches for our products such as Prestige Skincare in Harrods.
  6. Liaising with suppliers on visual merchandising.
  7. You will gain an insight into Business Planning and marketing plans for your year at Panasonic.
  8. Liaise with Japan regarding products, stock and other marketing materials.
  9. Liaison with market data supplier: GFK / Future Source / You Gov, etc

Imaging Product Management role involves:

  1. Work closely with Product Managers and Assistant Product Managers to support the sales and growth of Imaging products.
  2. Assist in the development of new business & marketing strategies for 2019 – 2020.
  3. Act as the sole Category Manager for camera accessories, taking full control of inbound and outbound stock, the monitoring of sales, creation of bundled kits etc.
  4. General management & marketing administration.
    • Reporting (using Excel, BEX Analyser and PSI software to track sales, order stock, monitor national accounts, analyse survey redemption data etc.
    • Market analysis and competitor intelligence
    • Updating web content
  5. Arranging loan stock for key partners & ambassadors such as Team GB and the National Trust (sourcing kit for photo/video production, roadshows, events, documentaries etc.)
  6. Work closely with the Marketing Events Coordinator to plan and run educational workshops, camera clubs and external trade shows across the UK.
  7. Liaison with Japan and the EU regarding the exchange of stock and marketing materials.
  8. Activating and facilitating marketing projects alongside external agencies.
  9. Manage and conduct weekly stock replenishment with Panasonic’s elite retail outlets.
  10. Attend and support the Brand Development Team in running events, sponsored shows, product launches and other sales/promotional activities with a sales representative approach.
  11. Actively take part in the recruitment of Industrial Placement Students for the following year.
  12. Liaison with market data supplier: GFK / Future Source / You Gov etc.

Person Specification:

  • We are looking for candidates who are open minded, self-motivated and creative to bring unique ideas to the Marketing team at Panasonic UK.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills giving you the ability to communicate complex ideas in a comprehensible written and verbal form.
  • Problem-solving ability that will enable you to develop innovative solutions for any kind of barriers or administrative issues that arise.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment.
  • Good time-management and the ability to prioritise workload in an organised fashion.
  • Strong drive to succeed within the corporate environment, always looking for ways to facilitate the growth of Panasonic UK.
  • Proactive in the workplace, using initiative to complete tasks without supervision.
  • An interest in commercial marketing or consumer electronics will help you to succeed in each category (Audio, Imaging and Beauty/Home Appliances).
  • Good knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Office to assist in administrative work.
  • Management of responsibilities and ability to take full ownership of daily tasks with a flexible approach.
  • Team player and ability to work in harmony with the rest of the group, having a friendly and approachable presence.
