Corporate Engineering EMEA Placement

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Intern to join our EMEA Engineering Operations team for a duration of 12 months starting in June/July 2019.

This placement is ideally suited to an undergraduate in their second year currently working towards a degree in an engineering related discipline. As an Intern in the engineering department you will get the opportunity to work alongside our fantastic engineering team based in our regional Head Office in Watford. Ideally you have a passion for Engineering and knowledge of fire life safety, mechanical and electrical systems within public & commercial buildings.

What will I be doing?

You will get the opportunity to support the Engineering Operations team with the administrative support of our central maintenance agreements as well as the collation of asset and cost data for future tenders. The role will give you exposure to work with regional directors by preparing analysis for projects to evaluate return on investments. You will get the opportunity for direct contact with Hilton’s suppliers to improve performance and to review KPI results.

General Information about the Corporate Intern Programme

As an Intern in our Corporate Office in Watford, you will participate in the Corporate Internship Programme for the duration of your placement with the Company. This will include the below:

  • A Welcome Day lasting half a day prior to starting where you will have the opportunity to meet all of the other Interns who will be joining Hilton as well as hearing from some of our current Interns on their Hilton experience.
  • A first day induction to welcome you and give you an overview of the Company.
  • Intern meetings once a month. These will include a mixture of presentations from business leaders and other guest speakers, training sessions to learn new skills and presentations from your fellow interns.
  • The opportunity to shadow up to three of your fellow interns for a day during your placement in order to get some cross exposure and learn from other parts of the business.
  • The opportunity to join one of our many Mosaic sub-committees to promote company initiatives including Social, Thrive, Charity and Travel with Purpose.

What are we looking for?

This internship will start in June/July 2019 and in order to be considered you must be enrolled on a engineering university degree program whereby completion of an internship is a mandatory requirement for your course. Ideally you will be available for 12 months and will be working towards developing a career in the Engineering. We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in working in Engineering and is motivated by analysing data and interpreting the result. Collaboration across functions is key in this department, therefore we’re looking for someone who is a team player as well as highly skilled in using MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel programmes is essential.

Preferred experience:

  • Receiving qualifications in an engineering discipline – a minimum of 2 years university experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills: presentations, written and public speaking
  • Ability to provide a simple explanation of engineering matters to non-technical colleagues whilst being able to discuss and direct complex issues with industry experts.
  • Ability to engage and motivate team members.
  • Ability to direct collaboration among cross-functional teams including external resources.
  • Ability to analyse departmental data, take initiative, identify priorities and make recommendations
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • A team player, resilient and positive.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behaviour and absolute discretion with sensitive information
