Internal Audit Internship

Internal Audit is an independent area of our organisation, integral to us meeting our ambitions, and protecting the interests of our customers. We provide assurance by calling out risks, asking the tough questions, and challenging where we need to.

About the programme

The ten week summer internships have been crafted specifically to give you direct experience of the work we do in Internal Audit, our goals and our team culture.

Starting your career with Internal Audit will give you a unique opportunity to quickly gain experience and insight into the financial services industry, its products and its operations. You’ll also interact with and learn from respected industry leaders.

On this programme, we’ll reward you with a salary of £22,000 pro rata, depending on location.

The internship provides a great opportunity to:

  • Develop your skills, and build some new ones
  • Meet new people and grow your professional network
  • Deepen your understanding of our business
  • Experience our team culture and values
  • Get stuck into a real life project and add value to the business
  • Gain valuable career experience, which will inspire your future choices

For us, it’s about finding and engaging talented and passionate people who’ll make a difference to our business in the long term. That’s why if you complete the internship successfully, and enjoy your experience, there could be a place available for you on one of our 2020 Internal Audit graduate programmes.

What you'll do

The internship starts with an induction and you’ll then begin a ten week placement, where you’ll attend training workshops, get involved with our day to day work, and take part in a business improvement project.
In the last week you’ll be assessed against what you’ve learnt, where you’ll have the chance to reflect on and demonstrate this.

For the full ten weeks, we’ll pair you up with a ‘buddy’ and a line manager. Your buddy will be a current graduate, who’ll help you get settled by sharing their experience. Your line manager will provide guidance and support throughout the programme, discuss career options and help you grow your professional network.

About you

To be eligible for our internship programmes, you’ll need to be in your penultimate year of a university degree, and on course for a 2:1 or above.

We’re looking for people who are analytical thinkers, able to overcome a range of challenges. You’ll have first class communication skills both written and verbal, and the interpersonal skills to negotiate and challenge as appropriate.

You’ll also have a real initiative and resourcefulness when it comes to your work, with a meticulous approach to problem solving and attention to detail.

About RBS

We believe there’s a right way to do business, and we’ve created a fair, open, honest culture that values your passions and will help you achieve your full potential.
