Business Support Placements

Purchasing Student Placement

The Purchasing department at Lubrizol provide a cost effective and efficient procurement service for equipment and supplies, principally at the Hazelwood site. As a Purchasing student you will be liaising with internal customers, suppliers and colleagues as well as working closely with the Stores department on stock level replenishment and learning how to ensure timely and accurate deliveries for our sites across the UK. Throughout the year you will also be responsible for ensuring our systems are up to date and contain the correct, relevant information whilst liaising with internal customers, suppliers and colleagues.

Business and Marketing Support Student Placement

As a Business and Marketing placement student you will be working closely with both Industrial and Driveline business areas to meet the marketing needs of both our internal and external customers.

You will be responsible for providing market research services for product managers and working with them to improve our market knowledge on specific products and industries. As well as this, you will be involved in developing promotional and marketing materials to highlight and differentiate selected products whilst also coordinating technical documents ensuring consistency within Lubrizol. You will also be the primary contact in Europe for administration co-ordination and publishing key internal marketing and business support documents.

Global Communications and Business Support Student Placement

Our Global Communications department is a small team of skilled professionals who work on a range of different projects to meet the needs of our customers, on time no matter where they are in the world.

Whilst on placement with us you will be involved in data management, project management and collating global databases. As well as this you will be assisting photographers on shoot as and when required. This is a very diverse role and you will work on a wide range of projects across all kinds of media and for a global audience. So, if you enjoy the challenge, can project manage multiple things at once and enjoy working with creative people in a fast-paced environment, this is the role for you.

Human Resources Student Placement

During your placement year with us, you will be working within a dynamic team of HR professionals gaining insight into both the day to day work of a busy HR function and the business areas they partner with.

Alongside this you will get the opportunity to work on recruitment projects, support talent development initiatives and gain insight into employee relations. You will not only be working within the HR department – as you will also be liaising with our partnering departments to gain a full and well-rounded understanding of all business areas across the organisation.

At our Hazelwood site, for Science and Chemistry students, we also offer lab based roles within Component Science, Applied and Strategic Research and Blend Test Services.

In addition to this, we offer an office based Regulatory Compliance role, which assists Lubrizol’s commitment to the health, safety and environmental aspects of our chemistries.

Our Manchester site, Blackley, home to our Advanced Materials research and development centre for excellence offers three lab based roles within our Performance Coatings Group. These are Research Chemist, Applications Chemist and Scientist in Paper and Textiles Applications.

If you are interested in our non-science based opportunities, we also offer placements within Engineering and IT Support.
