Communications Placement

We’re looking for a talented, creative and enthusiastic communications intern to join our in-house corporate communications team. We want your big ideas, your creative writing skills and your campaign expertise to help us reach and engage with employees, customers, intermediaries, media, and more! Working across all our product lines, including savings, mortgages and commercial lending, you’ll be instrumental in raising our profile.

This full-time, 12 month internship will help you acquire essential PR skills and provide you with hands-on experience working at the heart of one of the UK’s fastest growing banks.

Purpose of the role

Assist the communications teams on external and internal communications for the Group, assisting in the development of communication strategies. Assist in providing communication to a variety of audiences including: media, shareholders, analysts, government and employees. Assist with customer communication as directed.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist on the development of external and internal communication strategies which support the Group in the achievement of its overall objectives and operational plans
  • Work closely with the communications teams to create PR plans and campaigns, ensuring all messaging is consistent across audiences (will include work with Marketing on customer communications and customer websites)
  • Develop content items including press releases, blogs, columns, reports, articles and reports for external and internal audiences
  • Support the press office function for the Group including: responding to press enquiries, distributing press releases, drafting positioning statements, arranging media interviews and attending journalist briefings in a manner consistent with maintaining the overall reputation of the Group
  • Assist the communications teams with daily administrative tasks (eg attend meetings, minute taking, proof reading)
  • Assist in ensuring senior management and executive are kept up to date with industry-related news and information, this will include news and social media monitoring, reviewing and evaluating reports and research
  • Monitoring the Group’s Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts
  • Assist in updating content on the Group’s corporate website

Qualifications and experience

Ideal candidate will hold a PR/Communications qualification, or in the process of obtaining such qualifications

Working hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch)
