Solutions Engineering Placement Student

This exciting opportunity based in Solutions Engineering department at ASM Assembly Systems, is available on a 13 month work placement for undergraduate students seeking sandwich placements as part of their studies. The anticipated start date for this placement would be July 2018.
 
The main purpose of this role is to Support the Special Construction department (Known as SOKO – Customized products department) in planning, development, construction, testing and documentation of customized special solutions.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Work across our three Engineering disciplines; Mechanical, Electrical and Control Systems.
  • In conjunction with the Team leaders and Process Engineer, develop and implement process improvement changes as necessary within production.
  • To learn how prototype and production equipment is developed using CAD systems and to learn how to undertake initial testing/simulations to check correct functionality and operation of designed circuits.
  • To learn how to build initial design/prototype, with or without outside assistance, and subsequently test in accordance with department standards.
  • Produce and complete appropriate documentation related to the electrical design process e.g. circuit diagrams, loom drawings.

Your profile:

  • Currently studying a degree in Engineering; ideally in a relevant discipline such as Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience and/or knowledge across Mechanical, Electrical and Control Systems Engineering is preferable.
  • Able to communicate effectively both face to face and in writing with people at all levels in an organisation.
  • Able to build stable and useful working relationships; able to co-ordinate effectively with others.
  • Able to develop skills in basic theories, practices or procedures in one or more ‘skill-areas’ through formal training.
  • Able to apply a logical and systematic approach when solving relatively complex problems.
  • Approachable and responsive to new ideas.
