About Imperial Tobacco UK

As part of the FTSE 30 company Imperial Brands PLC, Imperial Tobacco has thrived at the top of our industry for over a century. From Lambert & Butler to John Player Special, Rizla to Skruf, we’ve launched one successful brand after another. And at every step of the way, we’ve been improving, remaking and reimagining what we can do.

Our operating model is tuned towards customer-centricity and agility – and the secret to its success is the thousands of people who work here.

Forensic Science Placement

Join us on a 12-month placement (Start date 31st July 2018, end date 30th June 2019), and you’ll get involved in real projects from the start, working – and learning from – some of the most talented, yet down-to-earth professionals in the industry.

And what about you?

Along with the legal right to work in the UK, you’ll possess the following:

  • Information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • A willingness to pursue a technical career with practical experience of research methodologies; proven organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • A desire to develop core Forensic science skills in relation to evidence recovery & photography, analysis, statement writing, court reporting, and exposure to National and International legal proceedings.
  • A minimum 2:1 Forensic Science undergraduate or equivalent degree (awarded or predicted) and a full UK driving licence would be desirable

The Opportunity

Are you a Forensic Science student or recent graduate seeking an opportunity to develop as an Analyst in the private sector? Would like to work with a team of forensic experts to combat the illicit trade threat posed to Imperial Tobacco brands and markets? This internship offers a fantastic development opportunity for an individual with an inquisitive and detail-conscious mind that is keen to pursue a forensic or technical career concerning print, packaging and security technologies within a global FMCG manufacturing environment.

The illicit trade of cigarettes, fine cut, and other tobacco products poses the single most pervasive threat to legitimate tobacco manufacturers, governments, retailers and consumers. Imperial Brands is totally opposed to illicit trade and is committed to working with governments and customs authorities around the world to tackle tobacco smuggling and counterfeiting.

Salary/Benefits

It’s important we show you how much we value your contribution. You’ll receive a competitive salary, work in a flexible working environment and have access to a free on-site gym and Astroturf sports facilities. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’.
