Acquisitions Placement

Are you a current undergraduate or recent graduate hoping to enter a career in acquisitions? Would you like to work for a leading global media organisation? If so, we’d love to hear from you. We are currently recruiting an Acquisitions Intern to join our Entry Careers Programme in London from July 2018.

This 12-month internship is part of our Entry Careers Programme, running from July 2018 to July 2019. These internships are for recent graduates or current undergraduates with a placement year in their degree, and will give the successful candidates invaluable ‘on the job’ experience in their chosen field. All our interns will start and finish their placements together, so this is your chance to learn and develop new skills alongside other young professionals. As well as networking opportunities and in-depth exposure to a leading media and entertainment company, we will also provide you with training and resources for your development, to ensure that you are ‘business ready’ by the end of your internship. 

The Acquisitions Intern will provide support to the Acquisitions team, who buy programming for Turner’s portfolio of Kids Channels across EMEA. The successful candidate will support the department in tasks including tracking and filing third-party pitches, liaising with external distributors, content delivery, and raising purchase orders and other financial documents.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Review content and respond to third party pitches
  • Develop and maintain the acquisitions databases and supply chain of information.
  • Collate and share programme information and availability to support the ongoing supply of programming to our portfolio of channels.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of channel distribution and legal contract tracking in Excel.
  • Act as point of contact for internal departments
  • Manage the administration of acquisition contracts into the finance system including raising Purchase Orders, Dubbing access and Invoice tracking.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, i.e. office administration, assisting in presentation creation, minute taking, travel and meeting arrangements and other relevant tasks.
  • Keep records as required and manage the departmental office in an efficient and effective manner (including tracking miscellaneous financial expenditures).
  • Ad hoc additional projects as required by line manager.

Knowledge and experience required



Essential

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK to participate
  • Good mathematical / analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrable interest in the television channels industry and television programmes
  • Detail orientated with an understanding of downstream impacts of the role and responsibilities
  • Studying towards, or having completed, a business or finance degree

Desirable:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel - Experience with using financial databases
  • Confidence with legal contract administration
  • Confidence in liaising and communicating with a wide range of people
  • Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility
