Sales Support Placement

At Cummins we recognise that having experience of the working world during your university degree provides a key insight to the practical application of your learning. We run an exciting 12 month placement where you are given an opportunity to work in a role and on real projects making a difference in both your team and the company as a whole. You will received on the job training and take part in a structured Training & Development Programme designed to give the skills and competencies required for future graduate roles.

As a member of the Greater Europe sales team, you will be supporting business development opportunities within the region. This role involves cross functional work across the Cummins business where you will have the unique opportunity to interact with many different functions internally including marketing communications, product management, engineering, distribution and aftermarket as well as externally with distributors and at times with end customers. You will also be responsible for the preparation of sales analyses and reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team in day to day customer enquiries.
  • Create and deliver qualified opportunities to sales representatives where appropriate.
  • Assists salesforce with quotation/RFP management and other sales cycle operations as needed.
  • Responds to customer concerns about the company and its products and services.
  • Enters new customer data and updates changes to existing accounts in the corporate database.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots customer transaction issues.
  • Maintains accurate sales entry, reporting and forecasting through utilization of Cummins tools and processes (i.e. common sales cycle, Customer Relationship Management Systems).
  • Assures good communication and coordination between account management, field sales, upstream influencers, sales management and inside sales to attain the goals of the sales strategy and culture, management of customers, sales talent management and sales operations.
  • Support marketing initiatives and campaigns at regional level
  • Compile and submit Case Studies to be included in Business Highlights issues
  • Embrace the Company values and mission; represent and promote Cummins to the Customer internally and externally.

Skills you will gain

  • Flexible and proactive attitude with a desire to learn and take on responsibility.
  • Some experience of working within Sales environment will be advantageous but not mandatory. Education: College, university, or equivalent degree in Business/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or a related subject required.The role will provide excellent experience for your CV and an introduction to sales role in industry. A mentor will be there to guide you through your placement year. The following training will be provided;
  • Training in Corporate systems such as Oracle, and familiarisation with other business software.
  • Coaching to enable the development of other business skills.
  • Training in industry relevant products and segments.
  • Access to the learning centre providing web-training opportunities in a wide ranging subjects.
  • 4 x 1 day workshops through an external training provider: Adapting to Professional Environments, Effective Communication and Presentation Skills, Team Work, Customer Care.
