Brief description of department

Renault Trucks UK is a brand of the Volvo Group.

Added value products are an increasingly important tool in securing long term sales partnerships with users of commercial vehicles. Within the Commercial Truck and LCV sales department at Warwick is an area with responsibility for creating, implementing and managing transport solutions such as telematics, driver training and maintenance solutions.

The transport solutions offered seek to considerably increase the profitability of the Volvo Group and its customers. This profitability increase comes from management of risk for both parties and the securing of long term revenue streams - typically of three to five year duration.

This role falls within the Renault Truck Commercial and LCV Sales department of Volvo Group UK.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity within our department where the successful candidate will be able to contribute to the business and make a real difference. The role reports directly to the Transport Solutions manager, working with internal and external stakeholders. The individual will quickly become a key member of the team with a wide range of opportunities to personally develop and grow.

Key areas that you would be involved with would be in working with our external dealer partners to implement new ways of handing over vehicles in a professional and structured manner, researching and making recommendations for improving sales executive skill sets in relation to selling a ‘total offer’ to our customers and managing the booking system for our newly introduced driver training school.

Responsibilities

Working on various projects you will get to learn about different areas of the department which will give you a sound and broad understanding for your time after University.
In essence, the key projects being:

  • Investigating how best to create a ‘team’ of vehicle handover specialists from today’s remotely located individuals.
  • The implementation of a new iPad based handover application.
  • Investigating and making recommendations on the findings that will improve sales competence at our dealer partners.
  • Lead the booking system for the driver training offer; ensure the smooth running of the courses and the collation and feedback of areas for improvement or development.

Other Duties:

In addition to the core project, this new role will also support the wider remit of the Renault Trucks transport solutions team, with a range of tasks to support team deliverables & providing a broader marketing & sales experience for the successful applicant.

  • General assistance to other members of the team as required, in particular with actions relating to our Optifleet telematics offer.
  • Support the Transport Solutions Manager to successfully roll out some new software platforms to the dealer sales teams which are targeted to significantly improve efficiency.
  • Assist with the conversion of telematics customers into paying subscriptions

Competencies, skills and knowledge required:

  • Excellent Microsoft office skills with particular proficiency in Excel.
  • Some degree of commercial awareness is essential as is an understanding of a B2B environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • An ability to network and quickly create business relationships
  • A desire to be involved in a customer facing role
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Clean driving licence is essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Current degree requirements

  • Studying for a Business Management, Geography, IT or related business degree.
  • 2 years completed – placement between 2nd & 3rd study years.
  • Academic grades on track for a first or high 2:1 on their chosen studies

Industrial Placement Opportunity due to commence 25th June 2018.
