Project & Pricing Co-ordinator Placement

Brief description of department

The role will sit within then Sales Department of Renault Trucks UK (RTUK), which is a separate trading entity within Volvo Trucks UK.

Within RTUK operation, there are the various departments, which are driving or supporting sales activity.

The Pricing Team support our commercial vehicle sales colleagues in many ways but key activities include:

  • Input around the ‘order to invoice process’ ensuring margin controls are in place
  • Support the accurate processing of extended warranties
  • Support Tender identification and activity throughout
  • Pricing analysis (i.e. for calculation of rebate payments)

The UK Sales Department covers all products. ‘Key Accounts’ and ‘Dealer sales’ functions directly drive sales activity on commercial vehicles here in the UK that range from 2.8 tonne Vans through to 44 tonne HGV Trucks together with all associated “Soft Offer” Service contracts and products.

About the role

We have exciting opportunities within the Pricing and Sales areas concerning specific elements in Project Management. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in one or more interesting projects spanning both the aforementioned areas of the business, reporting in to a Project Sponsor.

The Project Sponsor will likely be Grahame Neagus (Head of LCV) or another Senior Manager within RTUK.

The candidate will also support process activity within the Pricing Department. This will enable you to acquire experience in delivering day-to-day processes. Here the candidate will report directly to the Pricing Manager.

Responsibilities

Potentially diverse, large or small, projects will be assigned. These will relate to any area under the remit of RTUK. Any project will be supported by a Project Sponsor who will provide objectives at the beginning of the project and feedback and support throughout. The candidate shall be required during the assignment, to interface with both RTUK Sales staff as well as those within the Dealer Network in a proactive and positive manner as part of the Project scope and as a result not only support the sales delivery function but also gain an insight into the sales operation. Renault Trucks UK is a sales function so a project will relate directly or indirectly to sales acquisition.

The ‘project management’ will of course include thorough research and planning through to delivery. Communication with immediate colleagues and those in other departments throughout will be essential.

The candidate will need to support the Pricing Function on day-to-day activity, including the processing of invoices and extended warranties. This will involve gathering and inputting data. Also liaison with other members of the Pricing team and Sales Managers to ensure that margin expectation and our provision management are closely controlled.

The Pricing function is wide ranging so other tasks may be required to support activity. This includes, ad hoc reporting and analysis.

Working on various projects and supporting various processes you will get to learn about different areas of commerce which will give you a sound and broad understanding for your time after University.

Attributes required:

  • Project management skills are clearly essential. These are wide ranging but those critical skills include; communication, personal organisation, time management, leadership and ability to find ‘solutions’.
  • Attention to detail is essential. A thorough approach is critical, especially when involving pricing processes.
  • A strong “Team” ethic approach and willingness to learn and develop.
  • A good understanding of Microsoft programmes including Outlook, Excel and Access.

Current degree requirements

  • Studying for any degree but preferably business related.
  • 2 years completed – placement between 2nd & 3rd study years.
  • Academic grades on track for a first or high 2:1 on their chosen studies.

Industrial Placement Opportunity due to commence 25th June 2018.
