Business Support Co-ordinator Placement

Brief description of department

Volvo Penta, a world-leading supplier of engines and complete drive systems for marine and industrial applications, you will be part of a global and diverse team of highly skilled professionals who works with passion, trust each other and embraces change to stay ahead. We make our customers win.

In essence, the key project being:

Volvo Penta has initiated a restructure in business processes and systems across its three business segments and dealer network in the UK. This will involve analysis of all B2B processes against internal and external customers’ demands. Develop business system recommendations to streamline and maximise process efficiencies.

Working with the Business Support Manager, Industrial and Marine business controllers you will be required to understand specific customer business demands. Establish the correct business process to gain internal business efficiencies against current staffing levels.

  • To understand the Volvo Penta businesses and customer
  • Review current business processes and map shortfall against today business needs
  • Review business systems and highlight improvement areas to maximise efficiency for internal users across the business segments
  • Provide cost analysis for recommendations and improvements
  • Develop business dashboards to remove need for Excel analysis and reporting
  • Develop tools to provide SAP approval tools through tablets

Other duties:

In addition to the core projects, this new role will also support the wider remit of the Penta UK team, with a range of tasks to support team deliverables.

  • General assistance to other members of the team as required
  • Any other duties as assigned

Competencies, skills and knowledge required:

  • Team player
  • High level of computer literacy, including all standard Microsoft packages.
  • Excellent level of written & spoken English
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to present ideas in a logical & practical manner
  • Willing to travel, stay away overnight & work some weekends in supporting marine or industrial exhibitions
  • Have an interest in the automotive, truck, off highway, industrial and agriculture, segments
  • High energy levels; creative & enquiring
  • Willing to learn, develop & contribute quickly
  • Ability to work well under pressure & to stringent deadlines
  • Ability to handle a number of tasks, along with core project, at any one time
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the group
  • Current driving licence

Current degree requirements

  • Studying for a business management / financial degree or related business degree.
  • 2 years completed – placement between 2nd & 3rd study years.
  • Academic grades on track for a first or high 2:1 on their chosen studies

Industrial Placement Opportunity due to commence 25th June 2018.
