Design - Studio Modelling Placement
What to expect
Before any idea can become reality, our Studio Modelling team comprising of Visual Animation, Digital and Clay Modelling and our Model Operations team transform visions and concepts into feasible production vehicles.
As part of the Digital Modelling or Visual Animation teams you’ll use your design awareness to develop virtual model properties from design sketches or data and help devise the solutions to specific design problems. While those who join our Clay Modelling team will need good aesthetic judgement to develop 3D shapes for both interior and exterior design.
As part of the Model Operation team you’ll use your design awareness to develop physical model properties from using early design data and help devise the solutions to specific modelling problems.
These being Rapid Prototyping, CADCAM and mould making solutions enabling the production of world class model properties to support the design process.
Whichever team you join you’ll experience on-going support and opportunities to develop further skills and qualifications. All so you’re the one who is shaping the next generation of scintillating vehicles.
What you'll need
Excellence runs throughout our entire business. We expect you to be the same. So as well as being on track for at least a 2:2 in a Design degree, you’ll need a clear understanding of practical automotive design, engineering and model development. To join our Digital Modelling team you’ll also need awareness of software tools and programs and excellent 3D spatial evaluation skills. To join the Clay Modelling team we’ll need to see evidence of your modelling skills.
Please be aware that our undergraduate placement opportunities are only open to penultimate year students (i.e. students who will be returning to their final year of study following their placement with us).
This placement will commence early April 2018 and complete late October 2018. You’ll need to be able to commit to the full duration of the placement. All applicants must upload a Design Portfolio to their application to be considered. This file must be no larger than 5MB.
