Engineering Placement

This placement is ideally suited to an undergraduate currently working towards a degree in engineering or an environment related discipline. As an Intern in the engineering department you will get the opportunity to work alongside our fantastic engineering team based in our regional Head Office in Watford. Ideally you have a passion for Engineering and knowledge of fire life safety, mechanical and electrical systems within commercial buildings is essential.

What will I be doing?

You will get the opportunity to support the Engineering Operations team with the administrative support of our central maintenance agreements as well as the collation of asset and cost data for future tenders. The role will give you exposure to work with regional directors by preparing analysis for projects to evaluate return on investments. You will get the opportunity for direct contact with Hilton’s suppliers to improve performance and to review KPI results.

What are we looking for?

This internship will start in June/July 2018 and in order to be considered you must be enrolled on a engineering or environment university degree program whereby completion of an internship is a mandatory requirement for your course. Ideally you will be available for 12 months and will be working towards developing a career in the Engineering. We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in working in Engineering and is motivated by analysing data and interpreting the result. Collaboration across functions is key in this department, therefore we’re looking for someone who is a team player as well as highly skilled in using MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel programmes is essential.

Preferred experience

• Receiving qualifications in an engineering / environmental related discipline – a minimum of 2 years university experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills: presentations, written and public speaking
• Ability to provide a simple explanation of engineering matters to non-technical colleagues whilst being able to discuss and direct complex issues with industry experts.
• Ability to engage and motivate team members.
• Ability to direct collaboration among cross-functional teams including external resources.
• Ability to analyze departmental data, take initiative, identify priorities and make recommendations
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently
• A team player, resilient and positive.
• Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behavior and absolute discretion with sensitive information
