Architecture, Design and Construction Placement

We have a fantastic opportunity for an intern to join our Architecture, Construction and Design team on a 6 or 12-month placement starting in June/July 2018.This placement is ideally suited to an undergraduate student studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in hotel administration or a construction course or business school; candidates with hotel real estate or construction related knowledge and/or interests are preferred and this Internship should be a mandatory part of your academic studies.

What will I be doing?

The position would report into the Architecture, Design & Construction EMEA (AD&C) team. Headquartered in the UK, the AD&C team support the design, construction and renovation of all managed, franchised, leased and JV hotels across EMEA building exceptional properties that delight our guests, reward our partners, and reflect the unique cultures of their geographical locations. As an Intern you would get the opportunity to support the team with budgeting models, improvement plan costings and disruption models. A key responsibility of the Intern is to conduct market research on industry benchmarking against costs and the updating and improvement of existing project plans.

You would also get exposure to support the improvement of management processes and get involved in owner facing projects.

With design and construction professionals across 16 locations, our team has EMEA wide presence as well as local resources, skills, and expertise. The team provides the programs and resources to help ensure that properties conform to our uniformly high standards and are current with relevant product selections and designs.

What are we looking for?

This is a 6 or 12-month internship starting in June/July 2018 so ideally you will be an undergraduate currently working towards a bachelor’s degree. The ideal candidate will have at least an interest in the hotel/hospitality industry and architecture.

Other ‘must haves’ include excellent communication and presentation skills and working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. The ideal candidate would have worked with Excel modelling in the past. You will also need to be exceptionally organized and comfortable prioritizing tasks and working to deadlines.

Preferred experience/qualifications

The candidate will have or be in the process of or finished acquiring a bachelor’s degree from a hotel administration, construction course or business school; candidates with hotel real estate or construction related knowledge and/or interests are preferred. Strong analytical, financial and communication, and coordination skills are important to the role. Good knowledge of all MS Office software required – advanced excel skills preferred. Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or CAD Software experience a bonus.
