About Toshiba Medical Visualization Systems

Toshiba Medical Visualization Systems is a research and development centre that creates advanced visualization software for use in medical scanners.

Our software is integrated into Toshiba's scanner and enterprise system products (e.g. CT, Ultrasound, MR, X-ray) and is in use in hospitals across the world. We work closely with specialist staff within Toshiba's Medical Systems Corporation in Japan and the US, and we have strong links with local hospitals and universities.

There are over 100 software engineers, scientists, clinical specialists, testers and other staff at our Edinburgh office.

Medical Image Computing Internship

We are now looking for students or recent graduates who would like to be considered for a 3-month paid Internship between June and September 2018. In recognition of this we won an NUE award for the best small to medium sized undergraduate employer in 2015.

Several positions are available, working within diverse project teams across our R&D division. Working in the Medical Image Computing department will include:

  • Image Analysis
  • Visalization
  • 3D Rendering

This is an excellent opportunity to gain relevant work experience through joining a dynamic, innovative team developing industry-leading medical imaging solutions. The work is fast paced and intellectually stimulating.

About You

Applications are welcomed from students of the following disciplines:

  • Computer Science / Software Engineering / Informatics
  • Mathematics / Physics / Engineering
  • Machine Learning / Informatics / Medical Imaging

You should be at the following stage of your studies to apply:

  • Third year (entering final year after the summer) or Final year undergraduates on course to achieve 2:1 or higher
  • Early-stage postgraduate students (MSc or PhD)

In addition to an excellent academic record, you should have sound knowledge of writing software. We work primarily with C++, but Java, JavaScript, C#, Python and MATLAB are also useful skills.  Additionally, we place value on sound mathematical competence, particularly 3D geometry. This is a requisite for any scientific topic.
