Consumer Insight and Sensory Science Placements

In the UK, we offer 12-month placement opportunities to undergraduate students looking to gain practical experience within a vibrant and innovative industrial setting. As part of the scheme students get a chance to cultivate their independent thinking and problem solving skills in addition to working in and contributing to a team.

Reduced Risk Substantiation

We are looking for an undergraduate to support the development of a framework for post market surveillance of Next Generation Products including e-cigarettes and Tobacco Heating Products.

Job responsibilities may include:

  • Development of a framework for post market surveillance for BAT’s Next Generation Products and initiation of data collection
  • Supporting the design and conducting risk perception and use-behaviour studies for Next Generation Products.
  • Building relationships with internal and external research groups
  • Using appropriate psychological methodologies to develop understanding around smoking behaviours
  • Ensuring that the projects are managed effectively
  • Presenting and reporting updates and recommendations to the team and senior project stakeholders and coordinating the implementation of agreed actions.
  • Enhancing transferable skills, such as communication, organisation and time management

Degree disciplines: Natural Sciences, Psychology or related subject with an interest in consumer insights

Sensory Science

We are looking for an undergraduate with a keen interest in sensory science and consumer research to support the team in developing new sensory methods and techniques for driving consumer understanding.

Job responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and executing sensory research experiments
  • Working with sensory panelists
  • Use of statistics to analyse and evaluate data
  • Presenting and reporting updates and recommendations to the team and senior project stakeholders and coordinating the implementation of agreed actions.
  • Enhancing transferable skills, such as communication, organisation and time management

Degree disciplines: Biological Science, Psychology, Natural Sciences or related subjects
