Corporate Communications Industrial Placement

  • 52 week contract (typically June 2018 – June 2019)
  • 12 month placement position
  • £13,500 (plus £3,000 London Weighting Allowance if applicable)
  • 4 weeks holiday + bank holidays

  • Reports to Corporate Relations Manager

Job Purpose

  • To support McDonald's Corporation to achieve its business objectives
  • Support the International Lead, High Growith and EU Foundational Corporate Relations teams
  • Support Corporate Communications and Press Office activities

Main Responsibilities

  • Co-ordination of the monthly media and activity report for over 25 markets alongside collating all markets entries for the monthly Global News Calendar. Including gathering of information, writing content and creating a summary report for the Global team
  • Liaising with the markets to stay on top of planned communication activities and ensure messaging is aligned with global standards
  • Gathering information and creating a summary report for public affairs issues across International Lead, High Growth and Foundational markets
  • Dealing with press enquiries, monitoring news coverage and sending out official statements to the press
  • Drafting and writing of separate content for internal communications and other projects as required, such as media briefings
  • Ensure digital channels including the online press office are monitored and updated
  • Assist the team in the distribution of management communications, such as quarterly results
  • Supporting in the co-ordination of the Quarterly Business Report, helping summarise and collate content
  • Ownership and maintenance of digital image library and support on sourcing images and other materials for senior management presentations etc.
  • Maintenance of contact details and email distribution lists

Knowledge and Experience

  • Good standard of writing and literacy required as well as good verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be creative and generate ideas
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Good general PC/IT literacy
  • Experience of working on intranets/websites or other online tools is an advantage
  • Good working knowledge and comfortable navigating social media/social networks (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
