About Virgin Media

Harnessing the power of innovative technology, driven by incredible people, we keep setting the pace and breaking new ground.

We’ve been recognised year after year for providing the fastest widely available broadband speeds, and our £3bn Project Lightning network investment means that, by 2019, 17 million homes and businesses will be able to access the benefits of our ultrafast fibre optic network.

Engineering Undergraduate Placement

If you’re going to take a year out to get some industry experience, this is the place to do it. Why? For a start, you’ll be with a leading telecommunications company that understands how to get the best from its people as well as its technology. And you’ll be involved in real work that adds real value to our customers as well as our business.

We have some cracking opportunities in lots of exciting areas. Maybe you’ll be in our Wireless Development team where you’ll look at the performance quality of existing and future products and provide detailed analytics and recommendations to help the business make decisions. If you’re based in our Capacity Planning team, you’ll learn the principles of capacity management, the technology that the Virgin Media network is based on, along with the different elements that must be monitored to ensure a smooth running network. You could even be in our Network Modelling and Economics team where you’ll develop models for prediction of traffic demand, network upgrade requirements, costs and product performance.

Whatever you’re doing, you’ll soon have an impressive bunch of skills and experience under your belt. And it could spark the beginning of an amazing career across Virgin Media and the Technology and Innovation division of our international parent company, Liberty Global.

To get going, you should be studying for a STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) related degree with a predicted 2:1. And, with a passion for technology, you just can’t wait to learn more.
