Packaging Technical Operations Placement

Joining our dedicated and talented team for 12 months at our Cramlington site as a placement student will help build a strong foundation for success in your future.

Position Overview

Provide technical support for specific processes involved in the manufacture/ packaging of product on site as well as supporting process and cleaning validations.

Support reviews of equipment performance and installation and operational testing of new equipment.

GMP Responsibilities

  • Required to comply with Merck Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day-to-day activities and all applicable job functions.
  • Responsible for:
    • Attending and successfully completing applicable GMP training, including training in local operating procedures.
    • Ensuring you are suitably trained to perform your job.
    • Ensuring that this training is accurately recorded in your training record.
    • Ensuring that your job is performed in accordance with the training and in compliance with procedures relevant to the role/activity.
    • Bringing to the attention of management any violation in cGMPs and/or other concerns which may affect the safety, efficacy, or purity of Merck product

Duties and Key responsibilities

  1. To provide technical support for all processes involved in the manufacture of products on site.
  2. To implement process improvement projects as directed by Technical Operations Lead or Engineers.
  3. To support IPT investigations and follow up issues arising from manufacturing or laboratory atypicals, establishing assignable causes for atypical processing events and propose appropriate actions to minimise rework and improve process capability.
  4. To participate as directed in process and cleaning validation activities on site, provide technical manufacturing assistance with the preparation of validation protocols and oversee in-process validation sampling.
  5. To undertake annual product and cleaning reviews.
  6. To comply with the standards in Merck policies, procedures, guidelines and SOPs.
  7. To support any Technical Operations projects or tasks as required by Technical Operations Lead, Production Lead or IPT Leader.

Education and Experience

  • Working towards a minimum of a 2:1 in a relevant discipline
  • Entering your third or penultimate year of study, returning to your degree course at the end of the placement
