IT Support Placement

Core Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day hardware, software and application support for Porsche Cars Great Britain and Porsche Retail Group
  • Carry out specific administration functions including routine back-ups
  • Work on projects assigned by the Project Manager or Group IT Manager

Support Helpdesk Team operations:

  • Work closely with both local and central PAG suppliers to ensure an excellent level of service is provided to our customers
  • Installation of operating systems and business software on workstations and laptops
  • Actively contribute to, review and promote use of the departmental knowledgebase
  • Carry out user account creation and maintenance on key systems e.g. Windows, Lotus Notes, Porsche systems and applications etc
  • Travel with support team members to remote locations (e.g. Porsche Retail Group Centres) to provide on-site support and implementation services.

Assist Service Support Manager and Group IT Coordinator:

  • Actively support the maintenance of the IT asset register
  • Design, create, update and run ad-hoc reports
  • Provide support in keeping systems and process documentation up-to-date

Project work (to reflect individual’s skill set):

  • Manage small IT projects autonomously as required within department
  • Assist team members with execution of local and global projects
  • Take responsibility for the execution of projects assigned by the Project Manager or Group IT Manager
  • Proactively identify and propose opportunities to improve processes and systems
  • Examples of previous intern led projects include:
  • Amendments to helpdesk system involving ASP and Transact SQL development
  • Management of hardware lifecycle program
  • Investigation into suitable knowledge base tool and subsequent implementation of the chosen solution
  • Investigation into replacement asset management solution
  • Upgrade of Helpdesk Management tool (HEAT)

Core Accountabilities

  • Understand and assist in the achievement of department objectives
  • Take responsibility for personal development whilst taking account of departmental needs
  • Play an active role within the department, working with all team members as required
  • Assist in the appropriate execution of departmental processes and procedures including the correct use of software tools and supporting applications
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times

For our August 2018 intake we are looking for an enthusiastic, positive individual who is able to learn quickly. The successful candidate will have a ‘can do’ attitude, a willingness to get involved in a range of tasks and good communication skills. Our IT Support Placement will give you the opportunity to make a real contribution to our organisation and gain invaluable work experience. Candidates should be undergraduates looking for a placement year in their 3rd year of study and ideally studying towards an IT or Business related degree. Preferably have at least one year’s IT specific business or academic experience, with knowledge of Windows based technologies and be confident in spoken and written English.
