Our team

We’re about living life, not putting it on hold. We have a range of on-site facilities for all employees to use free of charge. On site we have a netball court, a five-a-side football pitch, a running track, a pool table, an Olympic table tennis table, as well as an on-site gym with classes throughout the day. Our café serves delicious, local organic food. Did we mention it’s all free? On top of this you’ll have great views from your office window of the foothills of Dartmoor and boats out at sea on the horizon, with the beach just 20 minutes away. Plus, we’re constantly organising events and activities to support our charities, and to socialise. Our work is serious but we’re all about having fun while we do it!

Content Science Internship

Being an intern at Sparx isn’t about taking a back seat. Our interns are bright, motivated and integral members of the team. Drawing on your own experience of learning, your insights will have real impact. You’ll be getting involved at the heart of our research into what works (and what doesn’t) in the field of education.

As an intern in our Content Science team, you’ll be using your deep knowledge of Maths, along with your inquisitive interest in the learning process, to help the team develop engaging new ways to teach topics that can unlock a whole new world of understanding for students.

You’ll gain a range of experiences while you are with us. Depending on the research projects we are focusing on at the time, you may find yourself working closely with our Developers, Data Scientists or product team. You may find yourself assisting with a school summer camp or challenged with developing a lesson ready for the start of the school term in September. You’ll get to see the evolution and evaluation of your work, reporting your findings and delivering the results.

About you

You’ll be able to demonstrate a scientific, evidence-based approach to working. Your extraordinary attention to detail, and pride in what we’re creating, means your standards are always high. You’ll be able to work at speed without compromising on accuracy and be able to work as part of a team. Things move quickly at Sparx so you’ll be able to work under pressure, get going of your own accord with the support of your team and use your initiative to get things done. You’re an excellent communicator, listener, organiser and someone that enjoys building relationships. You’re also resilient, tenacious and open to feedback.

You’ll be in your penultimate year of study, expecting to graduate in 2018 with a degree in Maths, Science, Engineering or any other relevant numerate and technical discipline. It’s looking pretty likely you’ll get at least a 2:1.
