Research & Insights Placement

We offer a number of different Research & Insight based Internships, below you will find each of the roles defined in a little more detail:

Brand & Consumer Insights Research Intern

  • Play a key role in the management of Disney’s largest quarterly run online data trackers; (Audience, Brand and Healthy Living) in over 25 EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) markets - this includes setting up, design, analyzing and presenting the results.
  • Assist on ad hoc qualitative research projects to better understand our consumers (Infant, Pre-schoolers, Children, Teens and Adults), our brands (Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars) and competitors.
  • Support lines of Business within Disney by providing key sights we have for our consumers with various ad-hoc reports.
  • Conduct desk research to analyse our key competitors and consumer trends to provide further context to Disney’s media performance and strategy.

Media Distribution Research Intern

  • Working to support the Disney Media Distribution UK sales, marketing and finance teams
  • Compile the UK monthly programming reports
  • Produce support information for sales teams in advance of key events throughout the year including, Mipcom, MipTV, LA Screenings
  • Produce distribution competitor analyses – highlighting our main competitor’s market share, broadcaster relationships and programme portfolio performance
  • Track the US performance of programming, especially debut series and their genre competitors
  • Produce and distribute weekly/fortnightly US Network Ranking reports
  • Analyse US overnight data and distribute reports daily
  • Produce and distribute weekly US Box Office research reports

Commercial Research Intern

  • Develop a good understanding of TV & online markets, fully utilising all forms of market intelligence including competitor information, trade press, and published reports.
  • Use this information to take ownership of weekly, monthly and quarterly performance reporting for TV, Online & Sponsorship
  • Research Analysis. Utilizing multiple industry research tools and bodies such as BARB & UKOM to translate into sales collateral pieces & presentations.
  • Provide the Disney Media Ad Sales and Promotions and Partnerships teams with commercial stories and insights on an ad hoc basis
  • Support the Senior Research Manager and cast members on short term and long term research projects and assist in identifying trends, behaviours and attitudes of consumers using various research tools
  • Critical to this role is to disseminate analytics from multiple sources into a single story and translation of the numbers into clear concise sales messaging for advertisers

Responsibilities

Disney Interactive Research & Analytics Intern

  • We are looking for 2 passionate and data-savvy individuals to work in the Disney Interactive Research team, helping to drive the business through in-depth analysis of Disney/Marvel/Star Wars’ digital content in EMEA (websites, social networks and apps).
  • Master a wide range of external and internal tools to gather insights on our digital content performance and on the digital market
  • Manage the production and take ownership of regular reports to be delivered throughout the company.
  • Conduct desk research on an ad-hoc basis or dive into the data to identify and analyze market trends, competitors and consumer behaviours across a range of digital platforms, devices, and content
  • Build a great work relationship with the team, key internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • A keen appetite for the internet, new technology, social media, apps & entertainment in general is a strong plus!

Disney Interactive – Digital Analytics Intern

  • We are looking for a data minded candidate to join our team for an immersion into the world of ‘big data’
  • We’ll train you to use a variety of analytics and database tools, apply different analysis techniques, as well as understand the technicalities of collecting customer data from digital products
  • This role is part of a team helping to evaluate and optimise performance of Disney’s web, app and gaming products
  • The position requires strong analytical skills, with a practical approach to managing workloads and interest in the drivers of business success.
  • Key responsibilities include training others to use analytics tools, KPI reporting & analysis, extracting data for ad hoc analysis & assisting in the technical product (web/app) implementations

Research Intern for Disney Channel Central Eastern Europe & TIG/MENA/AFRICA

  • Support the team by creating reports on how the Disney Channels and their competitors are performing in the CEE & EM markets, including:
  • Tracking the overnight performance of the Disney channels and key kids channels competitors
  • A weekly report analysing the peaks and declines in kids viewing compared to the channels schedule
  • Monthly reports highlighting the overall performance of the channel compared to competitors and assessing the top performing programmes on the channel
  • Attend and prepare materials for various different meetings including team catch ups and programming planning.

Research Intern for Disney Channel Nordic Markets

  • Support the team by creating reports on how the Disney Channels and their competitors are performing in the Nordic markets, including:
  • Tracking the overnight performance of the Disney channels and key kids channels competitors
  • A weekly report analysing the peaks and declines in kids viewing compared to the channels schedule
  • Monthly reports highlighting the overall performance of the channel compared to competitors and assessing the top performing programmes on the channel
  • Assist research team with Ad Hoc projects, working with various other departments across the company.

Disney Life

  • Looking for an analytic and creative individual with great attention to detail for our Disney entertainment service – DisneyLife.
  • Be the voice of the consumer and feed insights from app reviews, social media and our regular trackers back to the rest of the team in order to shape development of the service.
  • Take ownership of daily reporting of app reviews and ratings, and tracking trends over time.
  • Conduct monthly competitor analysis contextualised with the performance of DisneyLife.
  • Analyse data collected from monthly brand and KPI trackers. Confidence with Excel and a sharp eye for detail are essential.
  • Help set up and observe various research techniques such as focus groups and interviews and UX usability testing.
  • Support line manager in their presentation of analysis and findings.

Basic Qualifications

  • MUST be an undergraduate returning to full time education in September 2019
  • MUST have the existing right to work in the UK in place
  • Be studying towards a Research related degree
  • A chosen degree involving data analysis is preferred, as well as a demonstrable experience of using Excel and/or other statistical software
  • They must be a clear communicator, comfortable working in a team, and with a willingness to learn
  • Good team player
  • Good communicator, able to adapt approach to audience
  • High level of Organisation and Analytical skills – strong ability to work in a structured and disciplined way with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong time management skills, prioritisation skills and ability to work under pressure with multiple tasks and projects
  • Able to work independently and seek solutions to problemsPassionate about Research essential
