Brief description of department

The Marketing Communications Department is part of the Volvo Group Trucks UK & Ireland’s Marketing Department which delivers all events & exhibitions, product communications, Direct & Digital Marketing, Relationship Marketing, Internal Marketing Communications and Dealer Marketing for both the Volvo Trucks & Renault Trucks brands within the UK & Ireland. In addition, it supports the delivery of advertising, PR & social media and internal/external magazines.

About the role

We have 2 exciting opportunities within our very busy and lively Marketing Communications Department where the successful candidates will be able to contribute to the team and make a real change, as well as provide you with excellent marketing experience. The roles report directly to the Volvo Trucks Marketing Communications Manager and Renault Trucks Marketing Communications Manager.

Responsibilities

Working on various projects, the ideal candidates will get to learn about different areas of the department which will give them a sound and broad understanding for their time after University. Key Projects will be identified for the successful applicant to participate in or even lead according to their skills base, previous experience, desired focus/speciality and our business need - this ensures that projects are relevant and a priority.

Projects may include

  • Website development, build and/or maintenance – improve SEO and provide analysis.
  • Review/assessment of current marketing campaigns/processes with opportunity to improve and/or change.
  • Take the lead for selected product areas e.g. Used Trucks, Renault Trucks LCV, Volvo Trucks Aftermarket, Recruitment Marketing, Roadcrew and manage all aspects of Marketing Communications – with the support of the team.
  • Carry out a comprehensive review & assessment of all current and potential lead generation channels on all media currently used, including benchmarking against our competitors.
  • Carry out a comprehensive review & assessment of the digital marketing channels currently used, including benchmarking against our competitors, propose and deliver on new initiatives and ideas.
  • Develop and deliver Marketing Tools used by our Dealer Network and other departments.
  • Review use of e-marketing and develop and deliver new campaigns
  • Managing creation and distribution of marketing materials to dealer network, liaising with external agencies and clients.

Other Duties
In addition to projects these roles will also support the wider remit of the Marketing Communications Team, with a range of tasks to support team deliverables & providing a broader marketing & communications experience for the successful applicant.

  • General assistance to other members of the Marketing Communications Team as required, in particular with actions relating to Events & Dealer Network Marketing.
  • Providing event support within UK & Ireland and maybe overseas.
  • Monitoring of inboxes & hotline and forwarding of customer enquiries to other departments as necessary.
  • Attending & contributing to Department and Dealer Meetings.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Current degree requirements

  • Studying for a marketing/communications degree or related business degree
  • 2 years completed – placement between 2nd & 3rd study years.
  • Academic grades on track for a First or High 2:1 on their chosen studies

Competencies, skills and knowledge required

  • Excellent level of written & spoken English, strong proofreading skills & high attention to detail
  • Understanding and appreciation of key marketing principles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to communicate at all levels in the workplace & be a team player
  • High level of computer literacy, including all standard Microsoft packages.
  • Familiarity with the breadth of digital media in B2B – internet, social media, e-marketing, site optimisation techniques, content creation, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to present ideas in a logical & practical manner as well as good presentation skills
  • Willing to travel, stay away overnight & work some weekends in support of marketing event delivery, current driving licence
  • High energy levels; creative & inquisitive, willing to learn, develop & contribute quickly
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to stringent deadlines, to handle a number of tasks, along with core project, at any one time, capable of prioritising, planning and organising work
