Commercial and Operations Co-ordinator

Brief description of department

Part of Volvo Group UK Limited, Roadcrew manages our Extended Offer, providing a comprehensive range of complementary vehicle parts and services. Delivered through the Volvo and Renault Dealer networks and designed to meet the need of truck and bus operators in the UK and Ireland, the range includes Trailer parts, workshop equipment, consumables, chemicals and all-makes parts.

There are two main areas of activity in the Roadcrew business:

  • Commercial: driving the development and sale of the Roadcrew proposition - product management, marketing, pricing and so on.
  • Operations: managing delivery of the Roadcrew proposition - supplier and order management, warehousing & distribution, IT systems etc.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity within our department where the successful candidate will be able to contribute to the team and make a real change.

Responsibilities

You will acquire a sound and broad business understanding for your time after University by working on a wide range of projects and activities, for example:

Commercial

  • Work closely with the Product Team to rationalise suppliers and maintain the core product scope.
  • To work closely with Product Marketing on the new initiatives with websites and social media whilst analysing the effectiveness of these mediums. This includes website content creation, campaign creation and management and assisting with the social/digital media plan.
  • To provide recommendations regarding future marketing spend particularly with regards to online, social media and classified advertising.
  • To deliver and implement a marketing plan that is based on specific agreed actions resulting from review, including measurement & return on investment and presenting this to dealers when necessary.
  • On-going review & assessment of all Roadcrew competitors, including benchmarking on service and price.
  • Based on research results develop a longer term marketing plan for the Roadcrew Management team.
  • Managing creation and distribution of marketing materials to dealer network, liaising with external agencies and clients.

Operations

  • Liaising with all parts of the supply chain
  • Work closely with other departments in the business to satisfy their purchasing needs
  • Generating and managing purchase orders
  • Monitoring stock levels.
  • Report on delivery related problems
  • Assist with supplier performance reviews

Current degree requirements

  • Studying for a degree in Commercial and/or Operations.
  • 2 years completed – placement between 2nd & 3rd study years.
  • Academic grades on track for a First or High 2:1 on their chosen studies

Competencies, skills and knowledge required

  • Good commercial & operational skills (key marketing/operations principles)
  • Excellent level of written verbal communication and presentational skills
  • Strong analytical skills; creative & inquisitive
  • High level of computer literacy, including all standard Microsoft packages.
  • Willing to learn, develop & contribute quickly
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to stringent deadlines
  • Ability to handle a number of tasks along with core projects.
