At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains we are responsible for the simulation, design, manufacture, assembly, testing and racing of the World Championship winning Formula 1 Hybrid Power Units used by the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team. Our state of the art Hybrid Power Unit powered the Silver Arrows to win the Formula 1 World Constructors Championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016. We are also proud to supply power units to the Force India and Williams Martini Racing teams. In addition to this, we are also leading the transfer of state-of-the-art Formula 1 technology into the revolutionary Mercedes AMG Road Car “Project One”.

IT Placement

At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains we offer a 12 month IT Placement Scheme which will tap into your passion and determination, giving you a real opportunity to contribute to our success story. You will work on projects that push the boundaries of your creativity and technical capabilities, and where your passion can help to push the boundaries of science and technology on the Formula 1 race track and the road.

The IT department supports the business by providing a solid IT operations infrastructure and service. Accredited to ITIL ISO 9001, we are passionate about improving reliability, availability and performance with a focus of enabling the team to succeed on the track at every race. You will experience true IT support and be fundamental in ensuring as a business, we remain effective, efficient and operational.

As a team we pride ourselves on sharing knowledge and developing new processes. As a valued member of the team you will work collaboratively to develop solutions that will enable the whole team to succeed, including the following;

  • You will work and learn with the team to evolve the services, championing change and driving continual improvements
  • You will have the opportunity support the business cross functionally providing mainly remote, but occasionally desk side support
  • You will network with the IT team, the business, customer teams and suppliers in order to implement industry standard and bespoke solutions

What do we need from you?

  • A curious, tenacious and driven individual with a hunger to work in a fast paced environment
  • You will be on-track to achieve 2:1 or above in a Computer Science or I.T related degree
  • You will need a willingness to succeed, with dedication to your team and developing new skills
  • You will have the ability to prioritise and work within a pressurised environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build customer rapport quickly, to enable you to offer exceptional customer service
  • An analytical mind and the ability to analyse data quickly and efficiently
  • A high attention to detail and a drive for perfection

  • Finally, if your application is successful you will be invited to attend an assessment centre. Assessment centre’s will take place between December 2017 – February 2018
