At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains we are responsible for the simulation, design, manufacture, assembly, testing and racing of the World Championship winning Formula 1 Hybrid Power Units used by the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team. Our state of the art Hybrid Power Unit powered the Silver Arrows to win the Formula 1 World Constructors Championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016. We are also proud to supply power units to the Force India and Williams Martini Racing teams. In addition to this, we are also leading the transfer of state-of-the-art Formula 1 technology into the revolutionary Mercedes AMG Road Car “Project One”.

HR Placement

At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains we offer a 12 month HR Placement Scheme which will tap into your passion and determination, giving you a real opportunity to contribute to our success story. You will be an integral part of our business where you can help deliver a people strategy that will impact our performance on the Formula 1 race track, and on the road.

In the HR department we manage the people strategy for the organisation. This touches on all aspects of the employee life cycle from recruiting the very best talent, to effectively managing employee relations, and to ensure that our Learning and Development and Compensation and Benefits support our high performance culture. You’ll have the opportunity to support the team in the delivery of a variety of project work, which will improve how HR adds value to the business, and help deliver our Company People Strategy.

Each year we offer three Placement Opportunities within HR:

  • X1 Learning and Development Placement
  • X2 HR Generalist Placements

As a team we pride ourselves on sharing knowledge and we will develop you during your 12 month placement in order for you to;

  • Develop your capability and wider understanding of how HR directly impacts on the achievement of business objectives
  • Actively support the HR team by creating and analysing management data which is fundamental to us achieving departmental objectives
  • Support recruitment processes ensuring we attract, select and retain the best talent
  • Experience managing and maintaining bespoke HR databases, ensuring that the information given is captured correctly and effectively
  • Learn how to manage the development needs of the business, across a diverse range of skills and competencies
  • Take ownership of a variety of project work to support wider company objectives

What do we need from you?

  • A curious, tenacious and driven individual with a hunger to work in a fast paced environment
  • You’ll be on target to achieve a 2:1 or above in a relevant business degree
  • The confidence to quickly build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
  • Determination, resourcefulness and focus, to deliver results on time and with an exceptional level of attention to detail
  • The ability to evaluate and understand data and information quickly, using information to identify options, making recommendations and robust decisions
  • A passion for continuous improvement in order to seek out new ways to add value to the business
  • A willingness to go the extra mile to help the team succeed
