About ViiV Healthcare

ViiV Healthcare is a specialist company established by GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer in 2009, with the addition of Shionogi in 2012 after working together on the development of several drugs. We are focused solely on the research, development and commercialisation of medicines to treat HIV. Our aim is to take a deeper and broader interest in HIV/AIDS than any company has done before, and take a unique approach to deliver new and effective HIV medicines as well as supporting communities affected by HIV.

ViiV Healthcare Industrial Placement

We are looking for students studying any degree to join us in business, science or international development roles. Our 12 month placements are aimed at students who have the skills and experience to add value to our company, as well as the potential to build a long-term career with us.

We have fantastic business-focused industrial placement opportunities in Communications, Positive Action, Supply Chain and the Scientific and Medical Department.

The Positive Action for Children Fund (PACF) is an integral part of ViiV Healthcare’s commitment to support people living with, and affected by, HIV. The PACF is seeking a new Executive to take-over its day to day management. This is a very dynamic role and you will be involved in almost every aspect of the PACF’s work. Specific responsibilities will include managing relationships with partners, ensuring their timely payment and supporting a team of five associates (ViiV staff working part time on the PACF). You will also be asked to promote our annual call for applications and help to critically review and shortlist funding applications (final decisions will be made by an external board).

Becoming part of ViiV Healthcare’s Supply Chain team will allow you to support a £1.5Bn global specialist HIV Company that was established by GlaxoSmitKline and Pfizer to deliver advances in treatment and care for people living with HIV. This is an opportunity to join a team that manages £300M+ spend on HIV products from GSK, Pfizer and other third parties. This role will provide you with an in depth understanding of the supply chain process. Your projects and other assignments will contribute to improvements in to help ensure patients and customers at the end of the supply chain get the right product at the right quality.

Working in the Chief Scientific and Medical Office (CSMO) of ViiV Healthcare will allow you to gain experience in the R&D/Medical Affairs business function of ViiV Healthcare while building your project management skills and knowledge of working with proficient scientific and medical staff and experts in the field of HIV. This is an excellent opportunity to gain insights and experience of roles and careers available to scientists that are not laboratory based research.
