Business Summer Internships

What better way to put theory into practice?

A summer internship at BAE Systems will give you a 12-week insight into working life in one of our UK businesses and further develop your skills. Our internships provide on-the-job training within a structured framework and we only offer these placements when there is real work to be completed so if you want to make an impact next summer, read on to see what opportunities are available, and the associated benefits. We currently have the following summer internships opportunities available across various locations in the UK:-

  • Finance
  • Procurement

Entry Requirements

To join our Summer Internship scheme you must be available for the full 12 weeks (though you are entitled to 6.5 days of leave during that time) and on course to achieve at least a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in a related subject. For finance opportunities you must also have 112 UCAS points (new tariff) or equivalent excluding General Studies.

Although the academic requirements are important, we also want you to see opportunity where others see problems and be able to think around challenges that others can't navigate. You'll use the resources at your fingertips and the skills you’ll develop to collaborate with your team and find solutions to real life problems

Learning and Development

We recognise that your development is key for you to fulfil your potential in the world of work and that is why all our Summer Internships offer you the chance to hone your skills and gain valuable industry experience. You’ll have the chance to put theory into practice, learn from colleagues who are experts in their field, and gain insights that can only come from real world experience. In addition, we have partnered with EAL (the specialist, employer-recognised awarding organisation for the engineering, manufacturing, building services and related sectors) so that individuals who complete the full internship will receive a certificate to recognise their contribution to the sector.

Benefits

  • Starting Salary of £16,800 per annum (pro-rata)
  • 6.5 days holiday (for the 12 week internship)
  • Individuals who demonstrate outstanding performance on the internship will not have to complete all the stages of the Graduate Development Framework recruitment process should they wish to join us after graduation.

Application Process

We opened for applications on 1st September 2017.

We ask all candidates to apply online using our application form to ensure our selection process is completely fair and consistent.

Your online application will then go through a variety of strength-based selection methods, either online or face-to-face, and is likely to conclude at an interview with the recruiting manager(s).

If successful, you will be expected to start in the business from the end of June 2018.
