About Rolls-Royce

Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it’s all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea – to customers in 150 nations around the world.

Electronic Engineering Internship

In Control Systems, we have decades of experience in supplying safety-critical controls, instrumentation and asset intelligence solutions to aerospace customers around the world. For you, it’s an opportunity to get directly involved in developing electronic engine control systems that can operate in the harshest environments. You’ll be working with innovative colleagues – people who are full of ideas of how we can create even better, more revolutionary products – and an internship is a great way to see how you could contribute. It’s exciting work, especially because you’ll be based in a brand new, state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility. From research, design and test, to build, modify and develop, everything here is done under one roof. It’s an environment that will inspire you to do work that you can be truly proud of.

The programme

If you’re passionate about delivering excellence, our Electronic Engineering Internship Programme is the perfect place to achieve your ambitions. It not only gives you insights into our world-class business, but it’s also the perfect stepping stone to a challenging and rewarding career. Perform well enough, and you could have the chance to join our graduate development programme. And if you’re a student member of an institute, experience gained on your internship can be used to credit some of your learning towards your graduate programme and chartership status, should you choose to join us.

What you’ll do

Through on-the-job learning, training modules and live project work, you’ll experience the entire engineering lifecycle from design, build, development and test to service introduction. Whether you’re developing new technologies, testing units, improving current products or designing future control systems, you’ll contribute ideas to product designs for electronics that have to operate in increasingly demanding environments. Over time, you’ll test your knowledge and experience on more and more complex challenges. Do well, and you could be invited to join our graduate programme - a fantastic start to a career with one of the world’s most prestigious global companies.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for people who’ll be happy to share their ideas about how we can do things even better, so we’ll want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. You should also be on course to achieve at least a 2:1 BEng or BSc, or equivalent.
