About Rolls-Royce

Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it’s all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea – to customers in 150 nations around the world.

Project Management Placement Programme

With a significant order book and billions of pounds poured into research and development, we don’t think you’ll find a more exciting range of projects to tackle. Whether we’re developing gas turbines, creating manufacturing facilities or building power stations, sound project management ensures we meet our customers’ expectations, and our own. The diversity, breadth and scale of our projects mean they touch on a number of different business areas – an internship here is a great opportunity to get an insight into Rolls-Royce, and what it takes to do well here. Life in this team isn’t just about delivery. It’s also about looking at how we can do things better; how we can truly excel at every single thing we do.

The programme

Our six to 12 month Project Management Internship will see you put your theoretical knowledge to the test on real life assignments. Based on-site at one of our businesses, you’ll be exposed to several stages in the project lifecycle. You could find yourself driving the delivery of a large engine in Civil Aerospace, getting involved in project planning in Defence, suggesting improvements in Supply Chain or experiencing the close of major projects in Nuclear or Marine. It’s all about developing project management skills and gaining a deep understanding of how our global business works together to deliver engineering excellence. And to help you get the most out of it, you’ll have a strong support network and development that includes classroom learning and hands-on experience.

What you’ll do

From day one of your internship, you can expect to communicate with people from all over the business, working alongside senior team members and solving problems. You’ll also manage customer and supplier expectations and get to grips with everything from hitting day-to-day deadlines to reviewing projects to see what we can do better next time. You might take the lead on small projects of your own, or contribute to a much bigger programme of work. And as your abilities develop and you gain confidence, you’ll be given more responsibility and an even greater chance to make an impact.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for people who’ll be happy to share their ideas about how we can do things better, so we’ll want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. You’ll also need to bring strategic abilities, great people skills and strong attention to detail. You should be on course to achieve at least a 2:1 degree, or a comparable qualification. Flexibility is important too, as you could be based at any of our sites. Ambitious and driven, you’ll be excited about the fact that this internship could lead to a place on our graduate programme.

What you’ll get

  • £17,850 pa (pro rata)
  • Learn from experts
  • The chance to join our graduate programme if you perform well
  • Leisure facilities and numerous sports societies and social activities

Trusted to deliver excellence.

We recruit, select and develop our people on merit, irrespective of their race, colour, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or any other characteristic.
