About Rolls-Royce

Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it’s all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea – to customers in 150 nations around the world.

Manufacturing Engineering Placement Programme

Designing world-leading power systems is one thing. Actually seeing them through to delivery is something else entirely. And that’s where our Manufacturing Engineering team comes in. On this programme, you’ll be helping us to deliver on our promises and achieve the most exacting standards. At the same time, you’ll get a great insight into Rolls-Royce, and what it takes to do well here. You’ll be working closely with our Manufacturing Engineers – the people who develop state-of-the-art processes, acquire new capabilities, factories and machinery, and put new products into production. You can expect to be given real responsibility and plenty of scope to make a positive contribution to our business. This is an opportunity to undertake work you can be truly proud of.

The programme

On our Manufacturing Engineering Internship Programme, you’ll be assigned to one of our manufacturing facilities. Whether you’re working for us in aerospace, nuclear or marine, you can look forward to undertaking one or two major projects as a part of our talented team. And because you’ll be working in areas like capability acquisition, product introduction or continuous improvement, you’ll gain a real insight into how we work around the manufacturing lifecycle. Along the way, you’ll learn from some true experts and be taught valuable skills. Perform well, and you could be invited to join our graduate programme – a fantastic start to a career with one of the world’s most prestigious global companies. If you’re a student member of an institute, experience gained on your internship can be used to credit some of your learning towards your graduate programme and chartership status, should you choose to join.

What you’ll do

The projects you undertake will vary depending on our business needs and where you’re based. You could be part of a team improving a manufacturing process, or get involved in developing new technology to help introduce a new product into manufacture. You might also get the chance to work in our central teams, transforming the way we undertake manufacturing engineering across all of our facilities. The opportunity to make an impact, and a good impression, is huge.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for people who’ll be happy to share their ideas about how we can do things even better, so we’ll want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. Technical abilities are a must, so you’ll need to be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maths or a relevant Physical Science, or equivalent qualification. Flexibility is important too, as you could be based at any of our sites.

What you’ll get

  • £17,850 pa (pro rata)
  • Learn from experts
  • The chance to join our graduate programme if you perform well
  • Leisure facilities and numerous sports societies and social activities

Trusted to deliver excellence.

We recruit, select and develop our people on merit, irrespective of their race, colour, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or any other characteristic.
