About Rolls-Royce

Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it’s all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea – to customers in 150 nations around the world.

Project Management Summer Internship Programme

The diversity, breadth and scale of our projects spans many areas of our business, which makes a summer internship with us a great opportunity to get an insight into Rolls-Royce, and what it takes to do well here. Whether we’re developing gas turbines, creating manufacturing facilities or building power stations, sound project management ensures we meet our customers’ expectations – as well as our own. Life in this team isn’t just about delivery. It’s also about looking at how we can do things better; how we can truly excel at every single thing we do.

The programme

Learning from world-class Project Managers, you’ll take on a real-life assignment that will test you like never before. Over the course of 10 weeks, you’ll work in one of our businesses, so you’ll get a real understanding of how projects are managed in the aerospace, marine or nuclear sector. Wherever in the country you’re based, you can look forward to experiencing live projects and getting exposure to scoping, planning and scheduling as well as resource, cost and risk management. Crucially, you’ll take ownership of key elements of a project and be responsible for delivering them successfully. Perform well and you may get a chance to join our graduate programme – a fantastic start to a career with one of the world’s most prestigious global companies.

What you’ll do

During your time with us you might get involved in restructuring our world-class supply chain or putting a new product into production. You might also report on projects in progress, dig deep into a particular stage of the project lifecycle or drive improvements. Whatever you do, you’ll learn about project controls, stakeholder management, resource planning and requirements capture. And you’ll be making a real difference to our business as you do it.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for people who are keen to make an impact and share their ideas, so we’ll want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. You’ll need to bring strategic abilities, great people skills and strong attention to detail, and you should be on course to achieve at least a 2:1 degree, or a comparable qualification. Flexibility is important too as you could be based at any of our sites.

What you’ll get

  • £17.850 pa (pro rata)
  • Learn from experts
  • The chance to join our graduate programme if you perform well
  • Leisure facilities, clubs, societies and social activities

Trusted to deliver excellence.
