Procurement Summer Internship Programme

Procurement interns at Rolls-Royce work collaboratively across business functions, and with our external suppliers, to ensure that we maximise value from our supply base. As a Group, Rolls-Royce spends billions with external suppliers, so supplier performance and collaborative relationships are key to delivering overall business results.

As part of our expert team, you’ll build relationships that get the best from our global suppliers. You can expect to work with international teams to make improvements at every stage of the procurement process, whether that’s directly with suppliers or as part of our campaign to drive efficiency and effectiveness in all that we do. It's an exciting place to begin your career with us. Not least because as well as making a tangible contribution on live projects, you’ll be empowered to share more wide-reaching ideas about how we can excel.

The programme

Over the course of 10 weeks, our Procurement Summer Internship will immerse you in interesting projects, ensuring you gain invaluable hands-on experience. You’ll complete one of several placement opportunities across different teams and learn what it means to work in areas like Buying, Value Improvement and Forward Sourcing. You’ll also have the chance to work alongside highly qualified professionals and will benefit from their experience, support and expert knowledge of procurement.

What you’ll do

You’ll get a huge amount of exposure and experience in Procurement, completing a placement where you could find yourself delivering reports to the president of our business or delving into the current status of every supplier contract. You might also play a part in developing procurement strategies around how we source products in the future or use your creative thinking to meet stretching cost targets. Equally, you could be honing your influencing skills and building your network as you strive with teams across the business to get more value from our contracts and improve our processes. Whatever your experience brings, you’ll learn constantly. And, if you do well, you could be offered a place on our graduate programme – your next step towards a fulfilling career in procurement.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for people with an affinity for business and interest in developing their business knowledge by working with external companies. You’ll also need great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. Able to apply your intellect, creativity and determination to contribute effectively, you’ll work with integrity across every aspect of every project. You should also be on course to achieve at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent). Flexibility is important too, as you could be based at any of our sites. Ambitious and driven, you’ll be excited about the fact that this internship could lead to a place on our graduate programme.

What you’ll get

  • £17.850 pa (pro rata)
  • Learn from experts
  • The chance to join our graduate programme if you perform well
  • Leisure facilities, clubs, societies and social activities
